December 31, 2020 Update for Del Webb Chateau Elan
This community has a lot going for it. New floor plans, the excellent reputation of Del Webb who invented the active adult living communities concept and the location here in South Hall County. I say here because I live off Friendship Road at The Village of Deaton Creek with my wife Mary Ann. We moved from Johns Creek Georgia over four years ago and love the area.
Del Webb Chateau Elan is at the right stage to buy a home in. It’s already has hundreds of homes occupied, has their clubhouses and facilities built and have a good selection of homes still available. That is the time to buy. As you can see from the rest of the post below, I have tracked this community from the beginning. Rather than me post more photos, I would suggest just making an appointment with the sales office and go out and take the tour. I think you will be impressed. The only suggestion is not to wait too late. No I do not receive any compensation from Del Webb. I am just an ambassador for this life style since I am living it.
One tip is the way I understand it, homes in this new community are located in two different counties, Hall and Gwinnett. I live in Hall County and get the age 70+ school tax exemption which makes a big difference. I am not sure about Gwinnett, I don’t think they offer that, but check.

January 21, 2020Update
Del Webb has sold over 260 homes have now been sold in their new Active Adult Community Del Webb Chateau Elan. The clubhouse is now open and being used. Some other amenities like bocce and pickleball courts are just about finished. More and more new residents are being seen in the community and the local area.
New Del Webb Chateau Elan Video is at top of this page.
October 30, 2018 Update
A person who works in the office just told me that over 100 homes have been sold this year. That is a good year for a community that just opened to the public back in the Spring of 2018. Also the Clubhouse/Activities Center is being built. Del Webb Chateau Elan is having a very good start! Below is a picture of the clubhouse under construction and tennis courts, that I took Oct 29th.
Here is a list of current available homes at Del Webb Chateau Elan. There is an interactive map at the bottom of that page that is quite helpful.
June 18, 2018 Update
Visited Del Webb Chateau Elan recently and took some pictures of their marketing signs. It looks like to me there were about 35 to 40 home under construction and I did see at least one home already occupied. The sales office was buzzing and contractors were all over the place. Work was being done on the recreational amenities like the bocce courts, pickleball courts, and parking lots. I couldn’t get any information from the sales office but that’s what I observed. -Robert
April 26, 2018 Update
April 26, 2018 update: On Saturday, I attended the Grand Opening event for Del Webb Chateau Elan. They had scheduled small groups of us all morning. We met in their lovely sales center, which is quite a nice building, which will remain for activities after Del Webb has sold the last home.
The sales manager gave a community overview saying 176 homes will be in Phase I and including home sites for both slab and basements. There will be quick move-homes available or you can have your own built. To date she says 60 homes have been sold.
The floor plans include: Passport with 1-3 bedrooms and 1100-1424 sq ft, Expedition with 2-4 bedrooms and 1650-1960 sq ft, and Pinnacle with 2-4 bedrooms and 2260 to 2540 sq ft. I believe you would add the basement to those sq ft numbers.
Activities Director Roy Becker said the first homeowners will be having a wine and cheese meet up soon and they would have those quite often so the new homeowners can meet each other. The grading for some of the sports courts looked to worked on and those would be built first. The clubhouse will be built next year.
They catered a Bar B Que lunch, then we toured the models. Here are some photos I took.
April 15, 2019 update: Received an email with this message: Join Us Saturday, April 21st for our Grand Opening Event. Attend brief community presentation, tour four new designer model homes, and mix and mingle with other future homeowners. Learn more about the Del Webb lifestyle and how to make Del Webb Chateau Elan your new home while enjoying music and refreshments. RSVP for a community presentation here.
March 11, 2018 update: The reports I get indicate about 40 homes in Del Webb Chateau Elan have been sold. A grand opening is planned for May. The soft amenities, like ball courts will be built first, then the clubhouse. The model homes are not quite finished but getting there fast. People are going inside anyway. Lots of prospects visiting and people riding through this new community to check on the process. Meanwhile the Friendship road /Braselton Hwy area around Highpoint is being developed. The Chic Fil A and Dunkin Donuts have been open and several medical and retail centers are under construction. A Culver’s Restaurant has been announced for the Highpoint Center location.
Jan 28, 2018 Update: Representative reports this: Busy, busy times! Opening Del Webb Chateau Elan! Open to public mid March. Models ready end February, first of March. Working VIP peeps now. Beautiful community. Web site: Del Webb at Chateau Elan!
Also here is our post about the introductory meeting at Chateau Elan we attended in Jan 2018.

Here are some photos I took today (9/21/17). That’s the sales office going up.
Original Announcement of Community: Back in January 2016 Del Webb announced there will be a new community in the popular Braselton/Hoschton in Georgia’s retirement hot spot and the community will be named “Del Webb at Chateau Elan”. It will have approximately 900 single family homes and a clubhouse and other amenities. During 2016 there were a few rezoning and now it looks like site work on the new community has begun. This is exciting news for us living at Village at Deaton Creek just down the road.
Today (12/28/16) as I was riding down Thompson Mill Road getting ready to turn left on the Reunion cut through, I spotted some bulldozers and grading equipment further down Thompson Mill Road. Checking it out, I found grading is underway on the Pulte Property.
You can’t see too much from the road, but you can see on the above photo the construction road where the bulldozers were heading down and it’s on the Pulte property.
A man on the construction crew would not confirm what the development is going to be. He just smiled and said “maybe” when I asked is this is the Del Webb community. But looking down in the woods along Thompson Mill Road you can see the red construction fence all along the property.
This is a new sign on the property where the site development has begun and it clearing says “Pulte”.
This marketing sign has been on the property for awhile.
