Having Fun With Friends

As Mary Ann and I were enjoying the entertainer at our Over 55 Community clubhouse doing a Frankie Valli tribute, I observed everyone was having fun and really enjoying the show.  The entertainer was really out in the audience a lot and getting our participation. After the show lots of people said “this was fun“, he was “really entertaining” and the show “was enjoyable“.  Why? Was it because he was that great of a singer? I don’t think so. Here’s why.

More Fun With Friends

I think the reason we were having so much fun we we were with friends. With 2,000 people living in our active adult community, you don’t know everyone  but you do know quite a few. All of our neighbors were there, plus people we know from the many activities we do.  Even people you don’t know personally, you share a “we are in this together” family attitude with here.

Studies have shown you are more likely to smile, to laugh and feel emotions more strongly when you are with friends.  Just think if you go bowling by yourself or with your spouse, vs going with a group of friends. After bowling and getting a good score,  when you turn around you are more likely to smile, laugh and celebrate with a group of friends as opposed  to when you are by yourselves.

Just look at Mary Ann’s picture at the top of this post at that concert to see the fun and excitement, when the entertainer sang to her and sat in her lap.  Everyone was enjoying that and she was too. Earlier he sang to Donna our neighbor across the street and that was just as fun too.  It was more exciting with friends.

More Enjoyable With Friends

Studies show that people say the experience was more enjoyable when shared with shared with friends.

Having fun makes you happy. It also puts you in a better mood.

Having Fun With Friends at an Active Adult Community

At a 55 And Over Community is it much easier to have fun with friends, because you have a lot of friends right in your community plus you have lots of activities which can be fun. Therefore you are sharing much more experiences with friends, than you would if you live somewhere else.

It’s not just entertainment,  it’s  everything you do.  Walking with friends, play cards, any of the 100 plus activities, or  even just having people over to your home.

I will leave you with another prime example of people having fun with friends at Cresswind at Lake Lanier, an active adult community in Gainesville GA with these are two short videos of recent concerts they had. Cut the video sound on! Are these people having fun or what!
